Today is Veteran's Day, a day we honor our fellow citizens who made the decision to serve our country and defend our freedoms.

Unless you're in Milton, MA, where the School Committee finds military service so controversial and problematic, they let loony lefties crash their career fairs to talk kids out of it.

We talked about this story a few weeks ago, when Bush-bashing nuts in Raynham were demanding the right to attend high school "career fairs," despite a total lack of any "careers" to offer.  These activists were demanding "equal time" to counter arguments by soldiers and Marines that serving our country in uniform might be a worthwhile career decision.

It turns out that military-hating activists in a group calling itself "Miltons For Peace" (unless someone might get hurt, at which time we become "Milton for Surrender") attend these career day events at Milton High School all the time.  Why?  Because the p.c. weenies of Milton believe that wearing our country's uniform is such a controversial, partisan decision that it requires "equal time."

Is their equal time at Milton High Career Day between KFC and PETA?  Between union jobs vs. non-union employment?  Between medical careers vs. holistic medicine--or faith healing and Christian Scientism, for that matter?

Of course not.  But Milton High finds military service so controversial that Milton High principal Dr. John Drottar says if there are no anti-military protesters, he will not allow military recruiters.  "The other side [not allowing anti-war kooks] is to ban both,"  Dr. Drottar told the Milton School Committee.

You can watch the School Committee meeting affirming this policy below.  Notice how they're talking about military service the same way they would talk about partisan campaigning.  It's "political," it requires "equal time," it might take advantage of students.  Is any other career or education decision treated this way by our public schools?  No.

Now that Massachusetts has decriminalized pot, look for head shops to start hiring at Milton High unmolested.  You could offer careers with Planned Parenthood and get less grief from Dr. Drottar and the Milton School Committee.

In Massachusetts, military service is the career worth protesting.

Natural Truth of the Day

“To pity the people of Gaza is to patronize them, in essence implying that they do not control their fate, the state of their government, or their own actions. It is to assume one of two things: Either that Gazans are too stupid to oust the cancerous Hamas presence in their midst, or that they are unable to do so.
