Here are some gift ideas for the “Natural Truth” fan in your life!

“That’s No Angry Mob, That’s My MOM!” This is the perfect Christmas gift for the Natural Truth fan in your life, or the Liberal you want to annoy!
THE BEST SHOW ON TV! If you haven’t watched Homeland on Showtime, it’s not too late to start. A great gift for the action/spy thriller lover in your life. And with Season 2 on the way, it’s a gift that will keep on giving!
Fifty years of James Bond! And what better gift for the wannabe 007 in your life than this collection of Bond films? On Christmas morning, he’ll be shaken–if not stirred!
If you’re a James Bond fan but you’ve never read any of the Ian Fleming novels, I recommend Casino Royale. It’s a great read, and if you’ve seen the film, you’ll be impressed by how they updated the original plot.
Amusing Ourselves To Death This is the most important book I’ve ever read about the media and their impact on how we think. This is on my MUST READ list!
Patout’s Cajun Home Cooking: You know I love Cajun food, and I learned to love it from the Patout family of New Iberia, LA. Meet the family and discover some of their favorite recipes from this wonderful book.
Best. Christmas. CD. Ever. ’nuff said. If you don’t have it, you’re not really having Christmas. Vince Guaraldi’s “Christmastime Is Here” is worth the cost of the CD alone.
It’s a cigar case! It’s a flask! It’s two…TWO cool things in one! I’ve got one of these and they come in very handy. Your man will love it!
After America: Get Ready For Armageddon! Mark Steyn may be my favorite nonfiction writer in the world. If you haven’t read it, his previous book, “American Alone” is also a must-read. Funny, insightful and smart–it’s all here!

Atlas Shrugged  Please DON’T let your first encounter with Atlas Shrugged be the awful, two-part movie that came out earlier this year–or anyone else’s either. READ THIS BOOK. It’s one if the five most important books I’ve ever read, and I’ve never met anyone who read Atlas Shrugged and said afterward “What’s the big deal?”

The perfect gift for the young Obot in your life.

Chef Paul Prudhomme’s Louisiana Kitchen  Heard me talking about amazing dishes like New Orleans style bread pudding, sweet potato pecan pie, gumbo and jambalaya? This is the book that started it all! The photos are great, and the recipes are to die for.

Become the kitchen legend of your family, or turn someone else into one. Buy this book!

Magazines are gifts that keep on giving, and there are two magazines that I think every small-government conservative should read:

The first is Reason Magazine, the magazine of American libertarian thinking. It’s funny, well-written and always challenging.

The second is Wired magazine. It’s the small-government future because technology is giving individuals more and more freedom all the time, shrinking our reliance on government and making bloated bureaucracies less relevant in our lives.

They are great gifts for young people you’re sending off to college. They will help inoculate them from campus craziness.

Natural Truth of the Day

For several months now, whenever the topic of enrollment in the Affordable Care Act came up, I've been saying that it was too soon to tell its ultimate effects. We don't know how many people have paid for their new insurance policies, or how many of those who bought policies were previously uninsured. For that, I said, we will have to wait for Census Bureau data, which offer the best assessment of the insurance status of the whole population... I stand corrected: These data won't be available at all. Ever.-- Megan McArdle, Bloomberg View.
