Did The President Of The United States Just Make A [Monica] Joke? About His Wife? In Public?

This is part of the press poll report from an LGBT fundraiser President Obama was speaking at Wednesday night:

He warmed up with some jokes about the first lady’s appearance on the Ellen DeGeneres show. “Michelle outdoes me in pushups as well,” he said, after saying that she’s taken some criticism on her technique “because she doesn’t go all the way down” – a line that he let hang, naughtily, provoking laughter from the crowd.

Yeah—didn’t George W. used to do a line like that about Laura when he spoke to the CPAC crowd? It always killed!

Hey, a joke’s a joke, and grown-ups are grown-ups, but I dunno…  Call me old-fashioned, but I expect something, well, better from the President of the United States.

Am I expecting too much?
