These two guys weren't INVITED to join Al Qaeda.
From the news wires today:
AMHERST, Mass. --Amherst leaders are backing a resolution offering the Massachusetts college town as a possible resettlement home for two Guantanamo detainees if they are released from the military prison.
The board voted 2-1 on Monday to endorse a warrant article filed on behalf of the two men by the group Pioneer Valley No More Guantanamos. The resolution would require approval from Town Meeting. It also calls on Congress to lift a ban on relocating former Guantanamo prisoners -- even those cleared of wrongdoing -- from resettling in the U.S.
Supporters of Ahmed Belbacha and Ravil Mingazov say the men have been wrongly detained and never committed hostile attacks against the U.S.
Select Board chairwoman Stephanie O'Keeffe voted against the resolution, saying it was outside the expertise of Town Meeting.
That's right: Amherst is ASKING the Obama administration to send them graduates of Gitmo High. Talk about an open admissions policy. And given the politics on campus, they'll fit right in at the School Of Middle Eastern Studies. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Harvard doesn't try to snatch them up, too. After all, it's a Sharia-friendly campus, and they've never turned down a dollar of terrorist blood money.
I also love the fact that the chairwoman's objection isn't "we don't want Al Qaeda in Amherst," but rather a technical issue. It must be comforting for every parent of a UMass-Amherst student to know that the town is so inviting to such a "diverse" community.
And besides, if the US military clears them, what could possibly go wrong?
Riyadh, Saudi Arabia - The discovery by Saudi police of two Al Qaeda extremists wearing explosive vests in preparation for an "imminent" suicide attack underscores yet again the rising threat to Saudi Arabia...
Equipment found in the men's car last week, including explosives, machine guns, grenades, and two additional vests, suggests that the operation would have been significant – potentially resulting in the loss of many lives.
The men, one of whom spent several years in the US detention facility in Guantánamo Bay ...
UPDATE: Here are more details on the lunacy in Amherst. You'll see that this is par for their far-Left course...

The Democrats are going to get beaten badly in November. Not just because the economy is ailing. And not just because Obama overread his mandate in governing too far left. But because a comeuppance is due the arrogant elites whose undisguised contempt for the great unwashed prevents them from conceding a modicum of serious thought to those who dare oppose them.
