Thanks in part to the efforts of the Worcester Tea Party and the hundreds of citizens who took time to show up at City Hall, the proposal to boycott Arizona for enforcing immigration law was defeated 7-4…not even close!
This was a huge win in a Democrat-dominated, urban community like Worcester. It also shows what might have happened if Boston voters had known in advance that their city council was planning the same bonehead move.
Amherst and Lawrence, who are also considering a boycott, are so far gone that it’s unlikely the boycott can be defeated there. But here’s my question for pro-boycotters like Mayor Menino:
Now that other states are considering similar measures, are you going to boycott them, too? And given that 70 percent of Americans support Arizona’s law, and the law is actually just a state version of federal law right now (unenforced, but the law nevertheless), are you going to boycott the entire United States of America?

"The truth is something [Warren] probably prefers not to confront. Harvard doesn’t come calling just because you’re a smart lawyer and a terrific teacher — not with Warren’s modest, Oklahoma upbringing and non-Ivy League education. She is not your typical Harvard professor. At a certain point, when the law school was under pressure to promote diversity, she represented a three-fer: a great lawyer with a national profile, a woman, and a minority, at least by virtue of family lore.
