Imam of Peace: “Build The 9/11 Mosque…Or Else.”

Imam Rauf was on CNN last night issuing a warning to Americans who are rightly offended by the 9/11 mosque project: If you don’t let me build it, Muslim terrorists will attack.

Was it a prediction, a warning, or a threat? Watch the video. (Around 2:20 in) It sure looks like a threat to me.

Rauf said he intends to go ahead with the "multifaith" center near the site where Islamic terrorists killed nearly 2,800 people because not doing so would unleash fury abroad.

"If we move from that location, the story will be that the radicals have taken over the discourse," Rauf told CNN. "The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack."There is a certain anger here [in America], no doubt," he said later in the interview. "But if we don't do this right, anger will explode in the Muslim world. If we don't do things correctly, this crisis could become much bigger than the Danish cartoon crisis [over images depicting the Prophet Mohammed], which resulted in attacks on Danish embassies in various parts of the Muslim world. And we have a much bigger footprint in the Muslim world." [emphasis added]

I love this commonly-used argument from Muslims, which goes something like this: “If you don’t stop calling Islam a violent religion, we’re going to kill you!”

Rauf goes on to say that we must accept his Ground Zero Tower of Islam “in order to defend America and its citizens against a "danger from the radicals in the Muslim world to our national security.”

Hey, Rauf—don’t do us any favors.

And even cynical old me let out a gasp when I heard the imam lecture Rev. Jones on why it’s a mistake to burn Qurans in Florida, even though he has the legal right to do so, it’s on private property and it’s an expression of Jones’ religious beliefs.

“With freedom comes responsibility,” says Rauf with a straight face.  He also upbraided Jones for not being sensitive to how people would react to his expressions of freedom.  Jones, Rauf said, should take the feelings of others into account.

Hello, pot? I’ve got kettle for you on line 2…

Do you agree we need the 9/11 mosque in order to get Muslims around the world to behave responsibly? Post your comments here!
