That’s the bizarre world view of Amherst, MA, and the subject of my Boston Herald column today:
And I’m re-posting above the YouTube featuring members of Amherst Town Meeting insulting the American flag, claiming it’s a symbol of oppressing and claiming to be intimidated by its presence. If you haven’t seen this, you MUST watch. You’ll never see a more clear and honest display of the true attitudes of the Massachusetts Left.As a member of Town Meeting, Hooke supported resolutions calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush, the immediate withdrawal of all troops from Iraq and granting the right to vote to non-citizens.
What does Hooke oppose? Military action against Iran, and the flying of American flags in downtown Amherst - on 9/11.
Read that again: Ruth Hooke wants released Guantanamo detainees roaming downtown Amherst next Sept. 11, but she opposes flying American flags to commemorate that horrific day.
I bet if you told Belbacha and Mingazov about Hooke’s position, they’d ask “Where did you find that extremist kook?”

"The truth is something [Warren] probably prefers not to confront. Harvard doesn’t come calling just because you’re a smart lawyer and a terrific teacher — not with Warren’s modest, Oklahoma upbringing and non-Ivy League education. She is not your typical Harvard professor. At a certain point, when the law school was under pressure to promote diversity, she represented a three-fer: a great lawyer with a national profile, a woman, and a minority, at least by virtue of family lore.
