Five years ago there wasn’t a single Fisher House in New England to serve our wounded warriors, veterans and their families.
Today there’s a terrific Fisher House in West Roxbury, it’s fully funded and operational, and there are four other Fisher Houses under construction across the US right now—all with funding provided in part by the listeners of 96.9 Boston Talks!
So the head of the Fisher House Foundation, David Coker, flew in from Washington DC the other day to say “Thank you” to WTKK listeners for the millions of dollars of support you’ve given to our military families over the past few years.
Peter Smyth, the President of Greater Media, accepted the special commemoration from Fisher House. Peter’s one of the few people in the competitive world of radio who’s willing to give so much air time to a community-service cause like Fisher House.
Peter, David Coker, the Fisher family and—especially—the families served by the Fisher House, all want to thank you for doing your part to stand with our heroes when they need us most.
And if you haven’t given yet (hint, hint), it only takes a minute at www.fisherhouseboston.org!

"When President Bush announced plans in 2008 to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling, Obama dismissed it, saying "it would merely prolong the failed energy policies we have seen from Washington for 30 years."
"Offshore drilling," he said, "would not lower gas prices today, it would not lower gas prices next year and it would not lower gas prices five years from now."
