About Those Obama Budget Cuts...

In context, the Obama administration’s 10-year deficit reduction is less than the total projected deficit for 2011 alone, which the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates will weigh in at $1.48 trillion. – The Wall Street Journal

A handful of facts to hang onto as you hear Team Obama touting their “tough cuts” in Obama’s budget:

  • According to his own budget, after his “cuts” Obama will still stick us with $1.1 trillion in new debt in 2012 alone, on top of the approximately $5 trillion he’s piled on top of us already.
  • According to his own budget projections, Obama will cut $1.1 trillion over the “next ten years.” (This is a key phrase. Listen for it in every Obot interview).  How much does Obama propose to SPEND in the next 10 years? $40 trillion+.  In other words, assuming those cuts are made (he only has six years left in office), he’s cutting 1 dollar for every 40 of ours he wants to spend.
  • For this year, Obama is proposing $775 million in “cuts,” out of a budget of $3.7(ish) TRILLION. $3.7 billion = 1%. $775 million is about 1/5th of that 1 percent. And that’s on top of a budget that has exploded over the past two years.
  • And worst of all, these numbers are based on the laughable assumption that ObamaCare is going to drive government spending down, not up. In other words, these numbers only work if the health care equivalent of the “Big Dig x 100” comes in on budget.

Nobody is buying any of this. Including Obama. He’s putting this bogus budget as his way to vote “present” and leave it to House Republicans to do the heavy lifting.
